Default Quad 11 valve recomendations please

Looking at renewing the valves in my Quad 11's as they have unknown hours on them

I put in some second hand Valve Art KT 66 matched quad set and ended up with a hum on one ELS63 removed and re fitted the originals , no hum

    Any recommendations ?

    Cheers

Bite the bullet and buy some GEC 66's and a couple of genuine MULLARD GZ34's the cost will be a bit painful initially but they will last years and a nice condition pair of Quad 2's deserve some quality tubes.

Have the old ones tested - I bet there's nothing wrong with most of them.

Chris , they were tested when the amps were serviced and the engineer suggested a replacement set hence the quad set I purchased

The GEC 66s are the dogs but pricey, Watford valves Harma RETRO series, is a recreation of the M-O KT66. The last time I had Quad 11 amps I used M-Os and they were superb. I'm now using Harma EL34 Retros in my Art Audio Quintet and they are the next best thing to really pricey Mullards or other european or yank NOS. Well worth a go at 35 squids each I think.
