    Default Hugh Hopper RIP

Hugh Hopper, lynchpin of the sprawling Canterbury scene and bassist with Soft Machine until 1972, died last Sunday, the 7th June.

Soft Machine would have been nothing without his distinctive fuzz-bass. And he seemed to be at the centre of any Canterbury related activity over the last few decades, keeping it all alive...

Oh! - this is sad news.

Soft Machine were one of my favorite groups and I am in the midst of writing an appreciation for AoS. I shall complete this now with a heavy heart. First Rick Wright of Pink floyd and now Hugh Hopper.

Looks like I shall be playing the Softs tonight.
