    thats what i was thinking/hoping. i re-touched the solder joints prior to swapping out the transisitors, perhaps i either missed it, or didnt do enough to give it a good contact, anyway its been on quite a while now without issue, i'll give it a couple of days before i put it into use. thanks for your reply, mike.

    Which one's were you swapping ? Outputs or the diddy TO92's ?

    yikes, i dont know, i just started with the outermost transistor (black three legged gizmo's) and swapped them over one at a time. my theory was that once the problem changed channels i'd have my culprit, time consuming and a bit archaic but its my logic. what makes you think it may return? thanks, mike.
    just to add, its been running for about 6hrs and still no problem.
