you do good analogue pron Grant. Ima going to give this a try http://www.originlive.com/dc-motor-kit.html just gotta let my Clearaudio modded Emotion go to finance it. Will let you know how it sounds,hoping it will be in the next week or two. Took delivery of an Origin Live belt and steel mat today. Allround excellence ensued-tho there is a hint of motor noise breaking through between tracks. Belt was 30 quid but comes with a two year warranty and is thicker than the average belt. Had a Thakker on before,it lwsted about three months. That 160 of yours. I approve.

Its good when a plan comes together. The kit comes to around 540 with upgraded transformes(it would be rude not to get upgrade)hopefully the Clearauio wil cover most of the cost its just sat around doing nothing the Thorens thrashes it but it is a good deck in its own right and when I had a Dynavector Karat on it was very good. Until that wan time i thought it a good idea to play records when drunk. Eight hundred and fifty quid cart wqs ruin. The motor followed by a professional rewire of the 3009 will be my final foray into upgrade land. I am happy with my system,just have to see the Thorens upgrade path to completion. How much was the stylus if you dont mind me asking?

Not sure how much it was exactly now. got it from USA....needle doctor look for at95 jico shibata stylus.
The puck was from Pathewings in Germany. its 335gms and just right for the thorens.
that dc kit is beyond my purse. I think I will go for the thrust bearing upgrade.

Yes it is now. It was a bit thin at the recommended 1.8 gm but I had read that at 2 gm it was outstanding which it is. Hard to believe that a cheap cart can be turned into a world beater just by puting a shibata stylus on. Some other makes around including one that comes with their own brand of at95 I believe but needle doctor one is really top notch. expedited international delivery so was smooth and no additional costs.
Wish I could say same about the new headshell that did not make it out of customs free DOH!!!
