Wearing my design engineer hat for a sec, the Art Deco aesthetic will be deliberate I think.
    Too obvious not to be!
Great looking amp Grant, look forward to hearing it sometime soon.

    Art Deco’s very very cool,
Here’s a deco style hotel front...see the similarities?
Bit of Rennie Mackintosh in there too.

    And it’s Deco style interior:
    AC POWER
Hardwired 10kVA balanced mains powering entire system
    AMPS

Pro-Ject X8 balanced output via XLR / Ortofon Quintet Blue cartridge
    PHONOSTAGE
Pro-Ject DS3 B balanced Input (TT and Phonostage powered by Pro-Ject Power box RS2 linear psu)
    DIGITAL
OPPO 203 (Modded: Linear PSU, i2s output to Dac) - Roon Endpoint, HDMI input used for all things Streaming/ PS5 /AppleTV ... also good for movies apparently?
    MUSIC PLAYBACK
Tweaked AP-Linux based Roon Server into Oppo 203 as Roon endpoint
    Ipad Roon Remote.
Apple Music/ YouTube via AppleTV, fed to Dac via Oppo HDMI input/i2s output to Dac.

Agree with Gaz, I'd be amazed if the design was not deliberately based on art deco.

You could well be right. Only way to find out, I guess, would be to ask them.

My only doubt is that aren't Pathos an Italian company? If so, I don't know too many Italians with a love for Art Deco... They tend to prefer more 'showy/fussy' and ostentatious forms of design. Or to put it bluntly - BLING!

If they're not Italian, however, then scratch that

They are Italian, but I'm sure Italy has many examples of art deco, isn't there an entire district of Rome where the buildings are all art deco and art nouveau?

Just had a Google... And I think their 'Story' here nails it: https://www.pathosacoustics.com/en/h...out-us-en.html

Therefore, the styling appears to reflect the Renaissance influences of architect Andrea Palladio, which kind of makes sense as the 'Pathos' font clearly has Greek influence, along with the rather Romanesque 'pillar-like' structure of the amp itself and its heatsinks

IMO Only the font of the lettering of the "Pathos" heatsinks is reminiscent of Art Deco styling.

To my knowledge there are only a few audio items sporting styling influenced/inspired by Art Deco. These are the Lentek integrated amplifier

and the Sennheiser 'Orpheus' valve head amplifier

And possibly the Burmester preamplifiers (with all that shiny chrome):
