Fitted the denon to the light wood headshell. And set up at 1.8 gram. It sounds very good although is seems to be finding tics in the vinyl that were not there before. Maybe deeper in groove but sounds pretty good. Output is pretty close to the aurum.

It's funny, the DL-110 is slightly prone to revealing surface noise. Yet the DL-160 (next model up and my favourite HO MC) is the opposite, smooth sounding and possibly the quietest cartridge on surface noise that I've heard. If you spot one in good nick second hand I'd recommend it. You can no longer get new ones.

Think the tip is smaller in the 160 and cantilever is a different shape. Don't know why they stop making classics. I had one on radar and got distracted by family and missed it...ggrrrrrr

Seems to have got rid of a fair bit of those occasional tics adjusting the azimuth. Just played Streets by Ralph McTell and it sounded fab. Better bass the mid was clearer too. It is not bad with surface noise but seems to pick up on anything deep in the groove. Will leave it like this for a few weeks and see what think then.
