What hybrid do you have Grant ?

I know a lot of people hate the Prius but to be honest it's the most reliable car I've ever had and my local Toyota dealer is fantastic... I never feel like they were 'ripping' me off... just great service and very reasonable prices...

Is the Prius fun to drive? No not particularly... does it ride the best? no... is it the most trouble free motoring? yes.... I've now done about 13,000 miles on the Prius and I've had to do nothing but a yearly service with the Hybrid Health Check (free with the service) I've not even replaced a bulb as yet so I cannot complain

Thought you’d have had them on the lathe Al!

They are actually painted believe it or not, it’s the way they come now, coated is the term. Some sort of polymer or something, no oil to clean off before fitting which is handy!

This sums up Toyotas in general for me and is why I will never own one. To me they are an automotive white good, designed purely to do a job. Admittedly they do this job well but, for me, driving a car is about so much more than just getting from A to B.

The last Toyota I drove was a shiny new Avensis hire car a year or so ago. I had it for three days and when I handed it back I was quite angry with it. There was absolutely nothing about it that I could criticise but, equally, absolutely nothing about it that I could say was exciting, or that I really liked. Its sense of bland, inoffensive, quiet, competent mediocrity made me cross!

I actually really like the look of Grant’s C-HR but I wouldn’t ever want to drive one, as I know it would ruin the illusion!

Then again, I adore old Range Rovers so perhaps my vehicular ponderings should be viewed with grave suspicion...

the chr is a looker, but its not a super fast sports car. its not slow and it handles very well; the multilink rear suspension allows you a fair bit of liberty taking for a fairly high car, sporty wise. 120hp 1.8l engine is sprightly enough, but the cvt holds it back performance wise. still it is nippier at lower speeds. 0-60 is nothing to write home about but the 0-25 is very good at roundabouts.
i might add it doesnt have that silly prius gear knob. a proper auto gear shift. its safety kit and fancy extras are top of the pile tho, many out of the lexus

I owned an Avensis for about 7 years and in many ways it was the best car I've ever had, quiet, comfortable, faultlessly reliable (despite only being serviced twice) when I sold it at ten years old with 160000 miles on it all that had been replaced was the starter motor and clutch, everything else was original (apart from tyres and pads)

It was also so monumentally boring you could forget you were driving it, totally uninspiring in every way.
