Just looking back at the 350LCs

Amazing bikes, in a slightly scary kinda way, a mate had one and even from the pillion seat it felt overpowered. Monumental power between 8250rpm and 8255rpm and bugger all else, at least that's how it felt. I was continuously face butting the back of his helmet from the constant gear changes

I remember him having a box full of holed pistons in his garage and another box full of stretched chains, it seems both were considered service items lol

Those Yam lc's were wicked fast in their day, and if I remember correctly, the stock exhaust was pretty much expansion pipes. The first 250 lc's were said to be responsible for the government saying "enough is enough" to the 250 learner laws.

If I had the funds though, my 'nostalgia bike' would be an earlier RD 250 or 400 with coffin tank, or if I was really minted I'd go for an early Honda CBX1000. All of these bikes (and especially the lc's) cost fortunes these days.

It is quite a beast. The engine is now 1250cc and tuned, the rear end is Honda VFR750 single sided swing arm designed by Renault Elf, the front forks are Ducati as is the bodywork and under seat exhausts. It certainly turns heads.

That, Ian, is a hugely impressive bike - I can see the provenance quite clearly, but the result looks to me well thought out, with no one part overshadowing the next (with the exception of that fabulous across-the-frame six and so it should!)

Honda really got it right with that CBX motor - by making it a stressed member of the frame, and (I think) putting the alternator behind the crankshaft, the head could be viewed in all its 24" wide glory! Kawasaki's similar vintage Z1300 six could never look that impressive as they hid the engine behind a giant radiator (I think outright power was their priority.

Sorry if I'm going on a bit, that picture is giving me big willy
I just dropped in, to see what condition my condition was in

That's one sexy set of wheels, Ian. A proper bike, unlike most of what's produced now, and clearly owned by a genuine enthusiast. Love the colour too, and yes I spy the K&Ns!

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”
