Yep, they are nice looking beasts. I'd say try the Lexus for yourself, motoring journalists seem very biased towards the German manufacturers for reasons I've yet to ascertain. This IS300h has rear-wheel drive like a BMW, it has perfect weight distribution like a BMW, the on-road poise, ride and handling are as good as any BMW I've ever driven - and it still does over 50mpg - and it is not a diesel.

    Currently Listening On:

Turntable: Garrard 301 (solid chassis rebuild), SMD reference plinth
    Arm: Audio Origami PU7 (12")
Cartridge: Van den Hul Black Beauty
    Phono: Whest PS30RDT
Preamp: Scratch built AMB a24/LCDuino/d1/d2, fully balanced
Power amp: Transcendent 15W "Son Of Beast" OTL with upgraded Takman/Mills/ClarityCap MR/Jensen components in signal path
    Loudspeakers: Steve Cresswell's old Metronomes

They are very good Grant, as it should be being basically a VW under the skin. I drove one for while before I got my Audi, nice and comfy and surprisingly roomy, even for me lol.

Yes agreed, the reliability is another plus point too. The LS and GS are fairly rare beasts though, and I guess would be ruinously expensive if they did go wrong. I do like the idea of an LPG’d V8 though..

yup, it was a diesel auto with full electric pack and leather seats etc. Was pretty quick too. enjoyed it but life took a swipe and i no longer was going to use it much and diesels dont like low miles etc. so sold it and picked up my c-maxwhich ive had or 11 years without issue. it was 3/4 years old but low miles and has been a great motor. alas its in way out, under body wise. shame as its only done 50k and is otherwise very good nick

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

Nice, Dave, I do quite like Lexus, a worthy alternative to the usual German stuff, imo. Of course it's just a Toyota with added niceness, so you get Japanese reliability with some style and a shitload of extras. What's not to like!
