The priciple will be that sufficient numbers of people and small businesses will make their own. Storing their excess in their own battery storage or in CES(cloud energy storage), or of course sell it to the grid.
No idea if it will work, but there will be incentives to charge at different times too. A working paper was done on this and it was thought it will work.

Simple. We’ll all need petrol or diesel generators at home to charge our cars...

I can’t see that working. Generate it how- solar? Who’s going to pay for all the equipment and installation?

Wind turbines. Of course, they need to take power from the grid to keep turning when there's no wind!

Just been working it out roughly.

To charge an electric car at a public chargepoint with sufficient energy for a 300 mile journey costs around £20, no doubt this will entail at least one top-up (or more) for the journey with the attendant waiting time (hours?).

My petrol car will do the same journey on less than a tank of fuel, consuming approximately £25 worth of fuel without fuel stops. Should I need to fill up, it takes maybe 4 minutes.

Hardly seems worth the bother to opt for an electric car at the moment.

Unfortunately, I see a situation where service stations that sell petrol and diesel will eventually become fewer and further between. This will certainly lead to the cost of electric 'refills' being hiked up and there'll be nothing that we can do about it.
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

Not sure I can get a large enough one mounted on the roof of my car.
