Lol - we had what was called a 'potato-peeling machine', daftee. Even during the 70s it was a regularly used electrical invention in chip shops. Did you think it was all done by hand?
And besides, we had a fryer who did most of the frying, with my dad helping out now and then at the busiest times, and the rest of us stocked up shelves and served customers! There were usually two members of staff [often rather cute girlies], the fryer, and my dad and I (occasionally my mum, too) - yes it was a busy shop, with queues around the block most Friday nights and weekends!
In fact, folks would travel miles to us [football supporters coaches making detours after matches, etc], as the quality of the food was second to none and we'd built up a very good reputation.
Marco.
