Yes we can place our faith in new tech I suppose, it is the only thing that will make it properly workable, and I'm mindful of the fact that Victorian scientists calculated that UK cities would be overcome by horse manure by the middle of the 20th century, you don't know what is down the pipe although sometimes it's nothing.

Will still need clean fusion power to happen before there is the power generation capacity for everyone to have an EV though. That doesn't seem to be getting any closer. Really when you look at the reality of it the idea that everyone can move to an electric car is a complete fantasy. Some people are making money out of it though.

lots of potential but still doesn't get around the problem of generating enough electrical power to supply all the chargers in the first place.

yeah it might well be an issue. they had plans to use home charging car batteries as storage during peak periods.. im betting that doesnt work.

up here we actually generate more than we need, and most of it renewable but not down south. they seem to want it, and buy it from us, but do not want it situated in their back yard.

One day electric cars will charge as they drive along, probably via induction loops under the road surface (a bit like the charger pads for mobiles). I expect motorways would be the first to get them. Imagine the holdups when they start closing lanes to get that done, it'll go on for years.
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

although its not overly common, if they catch fire, boy they catch fire

one tesla in usa caught fire in a scrapyard, several days after it was involved in an accident. The fire brigade couldnt get it to stay out so dug a biggish hole and pushed car into it and filled it with water. They used 4500 gallons of h2o, which is the amount they would use on a large building fire. interesting and scary it took several days to go on fire.

Speaking of which, perhaps anyone with more than a quarter acre of land will be compelled to accommodate a wind turbine or solar panels. I would vote for solar - last week I camped about 100 metres from a wind turbine, and it made a right old racket.

Throwing water on a Lithium fire is really not the right thing to do, what we’re they thinking?throwing it in a hole a covering it with dry sand to starve of o2 should have worked.
Listening is the act of aural discrimination and dissemination of sound, and accepting you get it wrong sometimes.
