On last year's policy I paid extra for personal accident cover, which has now been removed. They say that the additional cost of this has been removed accordingly, but this just makes their taking-the-piss quote even worse!

They (Dialdirect) won't be getting my money now, on principle. Even if they come back with a reduced quote.

That's about what I paid for my sub 1000cc little Suzuki car.

Insurance is terribly pricey here. It's all the useless bloody drivers in the area that have endless accidents and the car thieves to blame.

Hi James, that's with Bennetts. I won't be shopping around, I'm happy with that quote. Far cry from when i bought it 17 years ago, when it was about 800 quid, and uninsurable without alarm/immobiliser.

I suppose it all comes down to how often a particular model is nicked or crashed. Which in the case of Geoff's insurance is pretty much everything, as he lives in That London, where you can be the best driver in the world and still be at the mercy of all the knobheads.

It's a shame that insurers base their quotes on post code instead of, well, I'm really not allowed to say. But if they were penalised with higher premiums they just wouldn't bother getting cover. And that's another way that law-abiding folk end up paying more.

I expect it will only sell in smaller quantities. Demand is unlikely to be great, hotrodders may like it though. Other modern sidevalve designs exist, Gas Gas motorcycles developed a modern sidevalve trials bike engine, not sure how far that got to.

My brother had a Ford V8 Pilot in the sixties. Not his cup of tea these days .

When was the last time you saw a Peerless GT, if ever? They were a small British firm from Slough and made some pretty cars, they raced at Le Mans. This is a 1959 2 litre. A rare sight now and they were never common.
