I'm pretty demanding when it comes to tyres. They have to cost less than forty quid each and last five years a set!

    Cheeky sod!

But I’m with you on tyres - I’ve always been a Michelin user right back from my first car when I discovered how much a set of good old XZX’s improved my little Nova.

As to your suppose ‘aversion to tight waddery’ - if that’s true then why doesn’t your Merc have an ‘AMG C63’ badge on it?!

Lol - well, firstly it'd have to be an older one, as I HATE the new shape, but more importantly (hence why I like driving 'oil burners', lol), I value performance AND fuel economy.

With motorway driving, I can get 38 miles to the gallon, out the Brabster, [you'd have hee-haw chance of that with a C63], and which is rather crucial when you're driving to Italy and back, and doing the best part of 3000 miles!

So... For as long as it remains possible, I'll be driving performance diesels

Is your oil burner fitted with the alleged emissions defeating device ? You could get £1000's in compensation if it is

Yes, something else may be out by the time you need new tyres, but for me, I don't think I'll be switching from the PS 4S, or the equivalent from Michelin, as they really suit my car, and are by far and away the best tyres I've ever fitted to the Brabster.

Potentially wasting the best part of a grand on four of something else , which on paper/via word of mouth may be better, but could easily end up worse, is unlikely a risk I'll take. The old adage of why attempt to fix what ain't broken comes to mind...

I can't wait until lockdown's over and I can take the car out for a proper run and test the new tyres properly, and when I do, I'll report back

    Marco.
Well, tbh i doubt its a much different world to the hifi one- free set of tyres for a good review..

Did all these "experts" pay full retail before reviewing? Call me cynical if you like lol.

On some nights I still believe that a car with the gas needle on empty can run about fifty more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio”
