The charging system is fine and the alternator output is spot on spec. It's just the car is not used much and the battery runs down, probably the immobiliser. The cigarette light is switched with the ignition but fortunately the battery is in the boot so connecting the trickle charger direct to the battery is no problem, just run the wires through the ski hatch in the back seat and lay the charger on the parcel shelf. I'll have a look on Amazon for one with a decent output. Cheers Alex.

Best put a fuse in the circuit if going direct to the battery. A good and/ or uprated battery should help, Bosch Varta etc. Has the drain on the battery been checked with everything turned off? My old Volvo only has the car clock and the radio station storage drains when everything is off.

I know a little about batteries, in the mid 70's I worked on the design of electric vehicles. Went on courses about batteries and electronic controllers for electric motors.

BMW checked it on their diagnostic computer and all is well, it's just lack of use I think. It's got a Bosch heavy duty battery. I've ordered the AA recommended charger, you can either clip it directly to the battery or plug it into the EOBD socket.

Coco looking indignant after being marched around a freezing park! She feels the cold, jumps on the bed at night and fusses until her fleece blanket is put over her .

It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!
