“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

Here's my best mate, Tippy the Lurcher:

I've had him a year. He's my rescued and re-homed pooch, reckoned to be about 8 years old. He's totally bonded with me and wants to know where I am at all times. He loves everybody in the house, but wants to eat anybody who rings the doorbell, good guard dog, but very soppy really. I think he's been mistreated in the past, as he cowers if anybody picks up anything that looks like a stick, poor boy. He's a lovely dog!

Now that's a very strange but pretty looking cat!

I'm not sure I'd call that a Lurcher, but you'd know, I suppose. There's an awful lot of Cumbrian Border Collie in there.

I don't know what mix the chap is. At a guess, I'd say Border Collie/Borzoi.

I don't care, he's a sweet animal and well behaved. No bad habits at all, most strange.

Hah - sussed it - getting a picture in the post. Here goes

Arthur obviously insists on top security when loaning me a few thousand quids worth of toys to play with. Meet the security team - Rommel and Keisha.

And whilst we're at it - what they are guarding (well - one of them)

Watch out - there'll be no stopping me now
