I'd like something like that, but can no longer justify the expense. (on a pension you see )

You don’t have to spend lots of money to own a car that’s fun to drive. There are loads of second-hand cars out there that’ll hit the spot nicely - all that’s required is a little ‘thinking outside the box’ and prioritising what's FUN, instead of what's practical!

As they say (or at least they should say): ‘Life’s too short to drive boring cars’ [or eat bland food, or drink bad wine].

I actually own three of the smallest cars around and although not fast, they happen to be a laugh to drive. So it's not necessarily a chore. I may get something with a bit of poke next year. We'll see.

the big skoda was fun to drive..quick too. my cmax i have now is a bit more sedate but easy to get in and out of.

Well, I'm on pension too. Sad to say, we both actually quite enjoy pootling these days. Get to see the scenery. Ronnie used to drive a BDA powered Lotus 7 and I had most of the Alfas available to anyone but the mega wealthy.

So we drive an Audi A4 20V. Very quiet, comfortable and....gawd.....sensible. Except when I get a flash of the old mood that is. Wind it up to 5000 and it actually goes rather well. All it takes is some little Alain Prost to try and show the old git how to drive and the red mist descends. I won't bore you with grand tales of my past but I still have the trophies

Ronnie used to drive a BDA powered Lotus 7

I drive a modern day version. 210BHP, 520Kg. There are not many quicker cars around, on the road unless you are spending mega bucks. It's fun to drive, but to use it properly, you need to be on a track, as I can break the motorway speed limit in France in 2nd gear. I guess it's a bit like an upgraded Techie, as it performs far beyond the original design after a few modifications.

I keep thinking about getting rid of it, and buying something that will be more fun at lower speeds, but every time I drive it I change my mind.
