    I'm Rob.

    Default Common courtesy

Would I be expecting too much to get a "thanks it has been received" message when someone has received an item that has been sold to them. The tracking says it has been received, should that be enough? Perhaps I am just old fashioned.

Old fashioned it is not. It's good manners and should be expected from the buyer.
