    Default RAM 200 speakers ( 1st listening )

I picked up these speakers Sunday ( Ram 200 ) tipped of on the
" bargains on ebay section " Thanks for the tip off

Wired them up today onto my system using Daves MCRU blackrodium twist cables

Listened to my life long album " Bliss "

    My finding are as follows

Bass is there and controlled nice and punchy
    Mid range is good
Tweeters are very good highs superb
    sound stage excellent
    Sound quality WOW

All in all very impressed , and for the price , what a bargain

anyway cant sit here typing I have music to listen too

Only one problem , its getting somewhat crowded , I need a bigger house

And I still need to find room for the DM2a's as well

    Isn't this fun

They are great speakers, not surprised you are enjoying them.

Al - make sure you try them with the covers off if you haven't already.

'cos I now have 12 pairs of speakers and only 4 systems in use! Plus, as they're so big, they will really only work in my main system, and I marginally prefer the SP1's - but it is close! (I think the RAMs are better in the bass, the Spendors have the midrange advantage, which fits better with my musical tastes.) That said, I will be having a swap round I think, as I've not played them in a while.

They are reasonably rare, as RAM didn't make that many pairs of the BBC licensed LS3/5a - but more for collector value than sound quality - the price of all variants is mad, IMO, and I suspect driven by Far Eastern collectors with more money than sense! I bet these sound just as good if not better - for £26!

LS3?5a do have a certain quality to them I can see makes them appealing, especially if you only have a small room - like many in Japan for instance. I'm sure it could be copied in a modern design for a lot less, always wondered why no-one does it. For me the larger RAMs are where it's at, though. You gotta have a bit of power and scale
    Current Lash Up:
