    Default Jelco 750 issue ?

    Received a new Jelco SA750 tonearm today (not from Dave btw),box was sealed,all the bits are new and unused.Upon mounting it on my NAS Spacedeck before I sort a plate out for the 1210,I noticed the bearings had some slack in them.Cant say I've ever noticed a tonearm before with some looseness in them,apart from some DJ worn out and hammered 1210's.

    For instance if I tap the tt platter or around the arm mount etc I can hear rattle from the arm's bell housing,if I hold the housing instead then no rattle.Also if I try to roll the armtube like a cigar the looseness can be felt.
    So the question is has any one else with SA750's noticed this or am I barking up the wrong tree ?

    Exclamation Registered Art of Sound Members can have 10% off almost anything?

    Some Jelco arms on eBay are 20 years old, still new, never used and the bearing oil has solidified. The spectacular review in February 2009 Hi Fi World of the SA750 was of one supplied by Sound Hi Fi that was manufactured in Tokyo in November 2008.

    A 20 year old SME would have identical problems.

    Of course, registered Art of Sound Members can have 10% off anything at www.SoundHiFi.com anything at all, sometimes more?

    Purchase of the Jelco for me was just a whim,I consider it good value for money for what it is offering,but I was just interested on what upping the anti on the Technics arm would do,but boy that 12" Jelco is tasty hmmm
