I'm going to pick up some Quincy Jones AKG Q701's and thought this may be a nice cable but I have never heard Van Damme cable.

They make real quality, no nonsense and great vfm stuff across the board.
I had a similar (?) VD based cable for my 702's, replacing the Cardas one, and thought it was actually better than the Cardas.
On another note though, are you sure about the AKG's? Have you tried them on? In my experience, they proved to be very uncomfortable in longer listening sessions.
I haven't tried them on but somenny sound engeneers use them for hours how bad could thy be.

Don't know mate but they sure were painful for me - had to change them. Most owners claim that the culprits usually are those "bumps" on the leather band and the relatively high clamping force. Some of them apparently even "shave" the bumps off to make their lives easier!
Really, really nice sounding cans though.
