Outsiders or not, I have plenty of friends and relatives with kids, where both parents are working full-time, yet still manage to find time to eat properly, rather than simply consuming microwaved junk food [I've been sat in their houses when it's happened], therefore that experience is largely what forms the basis for my point of view.

Quite simply, if you *really* want to do something, you'll FIND the time (somehow) to do it - and the desire to eat properly seems to have lessened significantly in recent years, with folks these days more interested in being glued to their mobile phones, checking their social media accounts, than the cooker!

Therefore, it's as much about managing your free time better, and making time for the most important things [eating well being one], as it is not having any.

Some more very good points. I did consider asking how many of these friends/relatives choose to live in tiny shoebox houses with the wallpaper peeling, kids in charity shop clothes, a car that only starts when it feels like it, and no holidays, in order to maintain culinary standards, but it would take me too long to type

Some folks will struggle to enjoy a good standard of any of the above. While others are just self serving lazy shites, and its the kids that lose out.

Idiots that send a text at 2am making an offer for a gumtree ad. To make it even more annoying the offer was about 60% of the asking price.

Same with the idiots on ebay, who place sales ads just before going on holiday, then disappear and aren't available to answer questions, which you need answered urgently, if you're going to buy/make an offer on whatever it is they're selling - same applies when you're a seller and have sold something in an auction to the highest bidder, then they disappear for days (or longer) before paying you!

For me, there's no excuse these days, with smart phones, not to be immediately 'on it' and contactable, when you're using Internet sites to buy and sell stuff - and if you've bought something on ebay, pay the seller *immediately*, just the same as you would in shop, and if you don't have the money right away, then don't make an offer in the first place!!

And don't get me started on the ARSEwipes who run on-line shops, selling whatever, whose website indicates that a specific item is in stock, or doesn't say one way or the other, so you presume it is, then once selected and paid for, nothing happens, sometimes for days afterwards, until you contact them, chasing shipment of your goods, only to be told that they're out of stock!!!!



If you're running a business on-line, particularly with a shop attached, then BE PROACTIVE, focussed and efficient, and ensure that everything you're advertising for sale is marked as in stock or not - BEFORE taking folk's money!!

That's stupid, as answering questions from prospective buyers, may well end up in selling what you've got advertised, which is the whole point, is it not?

There could be all sorts of reasons for this (Like they're trying to keep sale secret from partner, bidding against themselves, amongst them). Not forgetting that the seller is probably thick as a workhouse butty.

Whilst on the subject of clueless sellers, I have a question: I want to put a BOW Wazoo amp for sale on th'ebay, but considering its value (about a grand) and its scarcity (probably quite a small market for it) I'm unsure how to sell it. Should I auction it with a big reserve, or do 'buy it now' at or just above what I'm happy to take?

can do both with a reserve. put a low enough acceptable value on it and it will probably sell.. try it here first; you never know

Yes I've had it on here for a few weeks now, and I also took it down to Kegworth, but no joy. Scarce enough to make valuing difficult, I saw one on eBay for about £1800, and that was without the expensive remote, and a nasty scratch on the selector knob. Of course I can't assume that it sold, I think probably not. So I was going to put on for about £1000 (what I paid) or fifty quid or so more.
