You can open a bottle of wine by banging the base against a tree trunk - there's rarely one available in my experience though!

Why are you all over-complicting things? You can open a beer botle with a piece of paper...

At a party when I was 17, someone, in an attempted act of coolness, bit into a beer can and ripped it in half. So my friend, not to be outdone, tries to do the same, and succeeds but about cut his lower lip off! So there I was rushing him to the emergency room. He was a sight with 60 stitches in his puffed up lip!

Many years later, I’m in the market and see some of my favorite wine, a Valpolicela, on sale at a ridiculously low price! So I bought a case. When I got it home I broke every cork screw in the house trying to get the cork out! All of the corks were as hard as oak! I used a Fostner bit to drill the corks out, except for the last bit, and dumped all the sawdust out before punching the last hole with a screwdriver. There’s more than one way to skin a cat! I’d have been upset, but I got the wine for 1/3rd regular price.

As a carpenter I learned to open a bottle with the edge of my stick rule. The same trick is easy with a BIC lighter. Same trick in the video with the piece of paper.

    And another pet hate...

The way they keep changing sterling coins by issuing so-called limited editions, like "commemorative" 50ps and £1s. Is it any wonder there's so much counterfeit currency around when none of us can tell what a legitimate design really is any more ?

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”
