Following on from the Active-Pro thread and a few posts on the AVI Owners facebook page to a chap who needed help with his CD player (and was told it was unrepairable by you know who), led me to looking again at the makers of AVI gear in the 1990's. Alner Hamblin have been going for a long time now, the engineers making and working directly with all the famous Radford valve amps (and the Woodside descendants) and other makes, notably Nytech in the early days (the CTA252 was a lovely sounding bit of kit, even if it was a nightmare to service).

The reason why I'm mentioning all of this is that they happen to make a BIG "T" amp with a large linear power supply, promising the best of both technologies at a not too silly price (£800 or slightly under).

I've not heard it, so can't comment from personal experience, but the chap from IPL likes it, so it must be well worth a look I reckon -

Can't believe who these people have worked with I met David Alner once and he's a very genuine chap indeed and totally honest and down to earth.
