Saturday car boots a rarity round here. I'm not going out tonight so (weather permitting) I'll be hitting one super-early tomorrow. Means the difference between getting good stuff and ending up with the crap no one else wants.

"Super-early" means getting there before 6:00, otherwise all the 'vultures' will have swooped down and picked up all the good stuff (though sometimes they can miss a trick).

The car boot I'm mostly using these days is at Horwich (just outside Bolton), and it gets pretty busy, sited in the shadow of a rather less successful football ground
When I went last month I found the cheeky buggers have started charging 50p per buyer's car. But I arrived at 6.30 and was informed that it actually is £1 if you want to get in before 7am. Last week I offered them a twenty pound note (sorry I haven't any less) and they let me in for free, rather than have to part with £19 worth of shrapnel. May try that again tomorrow, if it's a different bloke.

50p per car is cheap, around here it is either 50p or £1 per head!

I loved bootsales, but unfortunately their heyday has gone. It peaked, for me, 20-15 years ago, incredible bargains, lots of good vinyl and hi-fi. In fact I used to make a lot of money buying collectables on eBay, mainly computer games and consoles, board games, etc etc.
But the bottom fell out of that market when other 'dealers' locally watched what I was buying and selling so I had to try to keep one step in front of them, which kind of took the fun away.
Then TV programmes telling everyone that their stuff was worth a fortune and the masses discovery of eBay finally killed it.
I rarely go now, can't be bothered to get up so early anymore, and when I do I find very little of interest...they seem to be mostly clothes, toys and cheap household tat now.
