Four cd’s for £1 at local charity shop today - Beatles ‘1’ and Dusty Springfield at HerVery Best among them.
Ridgeback bike frame with front and rear derailleur intact, one mudguard, seat post and handlebar stem all for £1 at Boot Sale at the weekend. I’ll never do anything with it but you can’t pass on a bargain like that can you!

Err no not quite when going through them playing it then became apparent 1/3 were empty cases

Remember folks have a look inside , make sure the CD is inside

Not only that, take the disc out and check it's not scratched or marked in any way.

Sorry to hear of your experience Al, but booties are a bit of a minefield these days.

I have given up buying vinyl, unless it's classical, on a recognised label and (usually) from a private seller: the amount traders ask for vinyl (often in the most appalling condition) is absurd.

Seller companies on amazon are usually fairly good. Ive a few I buy from and often get a near new disc for pennies when the new version may be expensive.

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

Sounds like my CD collection. I have a pile of cases that have no CDs in them and a pile of CDs without cases but do any of them match up? Do they bollocks.
    Current Lash Up:

    TEAC VRDS 701T > Sony TAE1000ESD > Krell KSA50S > JM Labs Focal Electra 926.

Even worse with LP's. When you find 'Houses of the Holy' inside your 'Spirals in Hyperspace' sleeve, you know you must have had a good night!
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

At least an LP weighs enough that you can tell right away that it is not in the sleeve.

Unless you've had a skinfull of drink and drugs, as you say...

Can’t tell it’s in the right sleeve though!
More annoying is when you lose an LP and spend days looking for it only for it to turn up weeks later tucked away inside a gatefold (that you clumsily put away after a skinfull of drink and drugs).

I pretty much gave up on car boot records (you can usually see at a glance what the condition is going to be like: scabby sleeves=scabby vinyl (usually). Last Sunday I saw some guy pulling out records from a box like his life depended on it, and some of them were tidy looking Moody Blues albums. I jumped in after him and he'd had all the decent stuff (should have followed him to his car and mugged him. But he'd left or missed one, called "To Our Childrens Childrens Children" so I got that, £3.

Played it when I got home, and it plays as mint as the sleeve Restored my faith a bit.
I just dropped in, to see what condition my condition was in

T/T: Inspire Monarch, X200 tonearm, Ortofon Quintet Blue. Phono: Project Tube Box CD: Marantz CD6006 (UK Edition); Amp: Musical Fidelity A5 Integrated.
Speakers: Zu Omen Def, REL T9i subwoofer. Cables: Atlas Equator interconnects, Atlas Hyper 3.0 speaker cables

    T'other system:
Echo Dot, Amptastic Mini One,Arcam A75 integrated, Celestion 5's, BK XLS-200 DF

    A/V:
LG 55" OLED, Panasonic Blu Ray, Sony a/v amp, MA Radius speakers, REL Storm sub

Forget the past, it's gone. And don't worry about the future, it doesn't exist. There is only NOW.
