For me it killed the slap echo and helps ameliorate the bass nodes in the corners, it doesn't do a huge amount for the bass but enough to be worthwhile.

Cool :-) - we can make a nice isolation base for it now - I've got some ideas

Hi Andrew, its very cheap on ebay the more you buy the cheaper it is. The long stand up one's in the pic I made myself by sticking the foam to carboard carpet tubes. In one word on improvements "everything". Best to buy a couple at a time then just keep adding, there really is no going back after using these panels, just don't go too far or you will kill the sound. I would say buy some I don't think you'll regret it

Yep, buy a few bits at a time.

One of the best hifi upgrades I have heard was when someone removed the absorptive panels he had surrounded his room with! It's easy to get too carried away and not realise the damage you are doing to the sound.

Obviously varies from rom to room, but a possible way to try is to damp the area behind you and keep the speaker area slightly more "lively," as in a concert hall, where one os surrounded by others in the audience. You don't need to overdo it, but I remember hearing a heavily treated (by a qualified acoustician) room thus done, and the speakers played in it sounded amazing, even the little cheapies he had just sounded "smaller" than the bigger models, rather than significantly inferior.. Sorry if it's granny sucking eggs here, as many of you will have far more practical experience than I.

It is very easy to go over the top with room treatments and it is one of the few things that i would only do with a room measurement set-up on hand. When I originally put mine up there was a lot of back and forth over a couple of weeks, while I had one of Keith's Trinnovs to hand to measure the room. I ended up removing and replacing quite a few areas of treatment that helped the room to measure flat, but killed the reverberation, no one wants a completely dead room after all because music isn't mixed in completely dead rooms.

    Branko was very... accommodating ;-)

I agree you can go over the top and kill the sound. I did a few main areas of the room listened for a week or so then added again and so on till I was happy with it. I have spent alot of cash on hi fi over the past 20yrs and in my opinion the £130 I spent on these panels was by far the biggest upgrade I have ever heard.. Every room is going to be differant ie furniture carpets wood floors, but I think whatever your room is there would be benifits from these panels just dont over do it....
