    Default Luxor briljant speakers

    Hello all.

Does anyone know much about these speakers? Crazy omni directional things.

A friend has some he's wanting to sell, they look very unusual.. not heard them though.

    Can anyone help?

Odd looking things, maybe a bit like Sonab omni directionals going by what looks like grille cloth in the four corners?

The Sonabs a friend had used an 8" upward firing bass/mid with four tweeters to distribute the treble. These look like they could be very similar

Definately not the first word in image placement, but still they weren't unpleasant

No idea what they are worth, at the end of the day they are worth what you can get for them just like anything else...

They may look good, but you have to listen to these things, so what they look like doesn't matter... That is unless they look better than they sound

I can easily live with Omni speakers, i had a pair of Sonabs for quite some time.

If your going for these speakers please note that the foam surrounds on the woofer rots away

I collected these from my friend today to test... very decent sound indeed, very surprised with a very decent soundstage.

In great nick with only a few scratches n what not, nothing bad.. Superb design too.

Well done Joe, i'd have snapped them up, as you discovered they are only small, the pictures make them look a lot bigger.

They use an 8'' woofer, the loudspeaker are rated at 40 watt, 4 Ohm, X-Overs point is 3kHz.

    They are 1960's - 70's design..Nice speakers

I believe that the Sonabs had several small paper coned Peerless tweeters, nice little units those tweeters. I still have a couple somewhere.

He bought them in 1966 so one owner since new. I heard that some went for quite a bit a while ago on ebay. I found a place in Europe selling some for £590 too.

My friend could do with some cash so they are now on ebay along with his amplifier that was used with some Tannoys that since went in a skip!!! Arrrgh! I was too late for those.. lol MG's too.
