I did something similar over the past few days with my Berkeleys. The Berkleys have M8 nuts but not strong enough for the M8 Superspikes I got recently. So got some hardwood (Utile) and fixed M8 inserts into the hardwood. As expected the sound tightened up nicely with a clearer focus, as well as raising the speakers to a more useful height. Did think of granite but not sure how I would fix M8 inserts into the granite.

The chopping boards are bamboo (bought dirt cheap off ebay I think), I used them as amp stands for a while. The spikes were from a pair of speakers I sold on so the experiment will cost me nothing

There’s a definite improvement but I’ve still to experiment more with bass level (the Goldenears have active subs with their own volume control) & placement.

think it may be more pronounced without spikes, but only trial will tell.. Granite or something dencer will also help. you want a solid base to hit into i think... looks good job tho
