Welcome Roy, Whats the Manticore 45? Is it Greg Lake 'I Believe in Father Christmas' flip side 'Humbug' ?

Yes it is; the 'Humbug' side... I simply read the label, though. I suspect that you arrived at the fact through somewhat cleverer means

Yes, it's the B side of Greg Lake's Xmas single. I was using this to try the turntable out as I'm not sure on the condition of the cartridge. Turns out it's probably only worthy of the skip which is a shame as it's a proper old thing.

Just picked up these two beauties (e-bay bargain), they both seem to work very well. What cartridges work well with the standard arm?

Bedroom turntable, sounds brilliant but I keep pulling the belt off when I take a record off and if I breathe on it hard the little anti-skating weight drops off.

If it were me Roy I'd lose the Project and replace it with one of the 1200's, you won't regret it. I'll leave the cartridge recommendation to those better equipped to advise you
