Must admit I've not heard an older Rock that could hold a steady speed, and I've heard a few. I hear tell that newer ones have got that leetle problemette sorted, but I don't want to spend that much.

Yep, as Chris says, I don't want to spend that much.

A cheapish Gyro might be attainable, even though I've had one before I might consider that - it was a nice tt!

I must confess, though, that I have previously sworn never to get anything but a direct drive due to my over-sensitivity to speed variations ... a classical grand piano and an orchestral violin section reveal all as far as that is concerned.

Maybe a tweaked up Techie is the answer?

The Salvation is an awesome deck. by the way the review is by Clive. The Salvation is well out of Jerry price range and is a keeper as its performance is in the super high end price range. You be able to hear the Salvation at Scalford
How about something like a PL71 or one of the top range Sony or JVC direct drives

If speed stability is an issue then some sort of direct drive, that doesn't need £2k of upgrades, might be an idea.

    How's about summat like this.

An upgraded bearing for £90. Which one is that? And he's spent all that money and stuck with the stock arm. Mmm....
