Yep, Dave - a Techie 1200/1210 is good. I've owned a stock 1210 and added a Herbie mat, so I would only be interested in buying an upgraded one. A fancy bearing or PSU or whatever ... but I'm too tight to want to pay to get a stock one upgraded! I'd lose too much on the resale - I'm a boxswapper, remember!

Goldring Lenco G99, as long as it's running. Stick it under your bed for six months and sell it for hundreds profit

Presuming that a Garrard 4HF is a little too left-field, how about a Funk Firm Vector instead? The III is above your budget new but there'll be second-hand II's looking for a new owner with arm and cartridge for £600.

Mitchell Orbe SE + Rega or SME. Might be more to your tastes than Notts Analogue. Anything better thats not DIY gets into silly money.

For Jerry's budget, that would constitute silly money.

So suggestions with a budget of, ooo - I dunno - up to £600 or so maybe. Less is fine.

    Trans-Fi Salvation??

I only own his arm, so I can't speak to the table itself. However, the arm is extremely well engineered and works a charm. I'm thinking Vic is equally as meticulous with his "baby". Being that it's an external idler (and a very good motor at that) setup up should be a breeze.
Lyrics are the ramblings of man, sometimes inspired by The Creator, most often, not.
But music (melodies, harmonies, rhythms), that's God stuff.
    Always was. Always will be.

One of the biggest lies ever told was that only certain kinds of people should listen to certain kinds of music.
