Coo - I really liked two of these symphonies!
6 & 5 - not quite so keen on 19 although it is impressive.
Both earlier works are choral/vocal to an extent - and the pure simplicity of the vocal line, beautiful in itself, is in fascinating contrast to the often bold and majestic orchestral music.
    Yum.

This should blow away the cobwebs.
An acceptable face of modern classical music as far as I am concerned.

Who the hell is Edward Gregson?
Well, everyone else probably regards him as a household name, but not me.
He's still alive, maybe that's his problem.
What I do know is that he wrote a stonker of a violin concerto!
Just kinda blown away by the vibrancy and sheer power of this.

... and the clarinet concerto is even better.
    An astonishing work.
Big scale orchestral at times, but somehow the solo clarinet wins!
    Lovely slow movement.
I'm baffled why clarinetists haven't taken this major work into their repertoire. It's not as if they are spoiled for choice!

Every year or so, the urge comes upon me.
    Vivaldi Four Seasons!
This year I much enjoyed this performance.

I enjoyed this, too, and will return to it.

    And a return to this.
Music by Mozart's son. Often criticised for not being as good as his dad, but then nor was anyone else so the criticism hardly seems fair.
    Very good indeed.

Some organ symphonies yesterday - majestic!

Jongen's took me 3 listens to start to get into it. Quite enjoy it now, and will certainly return to it.

And of course, I couldn't avoid letting the album continue on to the famous Saint Saens effort.

    Andriessen's is a good'un, too ...
