It's always great to hear about new interpretations of Bach; I'll be putting this on my Tidal playlist.

    I'm currently listening to:

This set has my favorite Toccata & Fugue in D Minor BWV 565; IMO one of the most over-recorded pieces of music, but I still like it. I would love to hear Walcha do something more sedate (like the Trio Sonata no. 1), and perhaps there is something like that on this set, but I haven't run into it yet. Though a few of the pieces do tend that way; perhaps Walcha is just not a sedate player.

    -- perfect music, perfectly played

-- some premiere recordings here. Amazing. The serenade and cello concertino are lovely!

-- an astonishing recording of an astonishing performance.
Definitely a Desert Island Disc for me.

Well, this is an interesting curiosity.
And I had better watch my back at Scalford16 cos Gromit may well be after me with a hatchet for what I am about to say ....

Arrangements of Mozart solo piano and chamber music by well known composers (eg Grieg) and some anonymous.
It contains a transcription of the Clarinet Quintet with a 2nd viola taking the place of the clarinet.
YUM !! - wonderous though the pukka clarinet quintet is, I prefer it as a viola quintet.

    -- WOW !!!
    This is amazing.
I seem to be in to transcriptions.

-- stunning performances of the quintets.

And the first couple of movements from the 1st quartet from this set ...

Hey, this is quite good. I've been wary of the Bartok quartets previously.

    - not even heard of this recording before. I do like Rilling's Bach, a bit on the slow and old-fashioned side, but heartfelt.
This Brahms is just the same.

    - some violinistic gymnastics - just listen to the finale of the Paganini concerto for the fun of it.

    -- good fiddler, our Nige.
