RIP Mariss Jansons. One of the great conductors of our times.

played these for him tonight: - his thumpingly good Dvorak 8th & Shostakovich 10th

    Yes, RIP Mariss Jansons.
Played these excellent Brahms symphonies in his memory, and Alan's suggestions will go on my playlist..

    Chopin's piano trio.
An early work and really excellent.
Such a shame he stayed away from the chamber music genre in the central part of his life, he could have done great things!

Superb sq from this Italian audiophile company, RS Audio, as well.

The classical-only (although they do seem to do a bit of jazz) streaming service Primephonic have a 3 month free offer on, so I've subscribed again to see if their user interface is any less irritating on my setup than it was before. Other setups may vary, they often seem to have a different UI presented.

Currently playing this Mahler 9 with Jansons (which doesn't seem to be on TIDAL) ....

a hauntingly atmospheric symphony by Valentin Bibik, quite dramatic at times, too
