    Default FS Tekni-fi Pre amp

    Tekni-fi Pre amp

Brought this amp about 3 months ago, it is a Danish amp built by a company making high end equipment in the 90’s early 2000. I have had it totally rebuilt and got it back about 8 weeks ago. All caps resistors and tubes are new. Has 2 out puts one using Audio Note copper caps the other V-Caps TFTF (£350). The power supply on this amp is very special, fully tube regulated with separate tube regulation to each cannel all caps in power supply are Mundorf Tubecaps. The case is all Perspex so is not conductive at all. All resistors are to 1% tolerance. Pot is a DACT stepped attenuator the selection pot is also made by DACT. Has a lot of cotton sleeved silver wire used. I have also put balance on each output as I as the hearing in one of my ears is not so good.

Have to say it is pretty special a very clean sound. Out performs my £2200 (plus more for mods) Croft Epoch Pre I had before this by a very large margin.

Only used less than 50 hours since coming back from the work shop as since then my power amp was sent off so could not use..

This is a line stage only.

Looking for a £900 which is less then what I just spent on rebuild, I may haggle though.

The guy who just done these upgrades who I know well, said it compares to amps he's had through his work shop in the £5000+ bracket. It is something real special some one should get a bargain.

Mikey, treat yourself. I'm keeping the Croft, so that's out of the equation now

I compared it today against Steve's new grounded grid preamp, and then against Anthony's Soul Mate preamp, and as good as both of those are, to my ears the Croft is still that bit better.

Since the mods that Glenn has carried out, and the purchase of some, quite frankly, superb valves from America it's really taken its performance up several notches!

The Tekni-fi is a bargain. It's £900 now and the Capt says he will haggle... That sounds like £800 cash and a Mars Bar to me
