Thread: Prattlin' Dave's HiFi Rambles...

The Skibo's have finally departed for pastures new, in fact they now reside in my friend Aaron's system, his partner bought them from me for his birthday. He is very happy with them as is his missus, which is half the battle won. They are currently working on a solution to deter their cats from using them as scratching posts

I am toying with the idea of keeping the DM2's as both myself and Jo are reluctant to part with them. One of the Coles tweeters needs replacing however I have destroyed three of the damned things to date therefore I am reluctant to do the work myself as the drivers are not cheap and my confidence has taken a bit of a knock...

I have decided to provisionally dip my toe back in the water after the unpleasantness of a few months ago, which led to me upping sticks. I'd just like to state that Geoff (Walpurgis) is a thoroughly decent chap. I had a nice chat on the phone with the gentleman concerned a couple of days ago and as is our wont, the conversation soon turned to ..... aircraft. Yup, Geoff and I share a passion for old flying machines. Hifi? Dunno what all the fuss is about...

Hi Dave, you and Geoff are tops, two of the few i have time for in here,
sometimes it's good to step away and look at it from a different perspective and come back reborn.

Ditto regarding the hifi bit, as long as its reliable and sounds decent plus gives me enjoyment, i don't get too hung up about it.
    Frank...made me do it.

Thanks buddy, although I very much doubt I'll survive here for long, I'm still fuming over the appalling treatment metered out to James (Istari Knight) by 'his-nibs'. There are members I've missed interacting with here and you are one of them

Hi Dave, nice to see you around again. :-)
“Music has always been a matter of energy to me, a question of fuel. Sentimental people call it inspiration, but what they really mean is fuel. I have always needed fuel. I am a serious consumer. On some nights I still believe that a car with the gas needle on empty can run about fifty more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio”

...as for my system, there's not much to report really as very little has changed. I built myself a new music server which is performing well above expectations, and which ably demonstrates just how far things have moved on since my previous build. I listen almost exclusively to file based audio via Foobar these days as I find it offers the best sound reproduction via this system by a country mile.

It's good to have you back, Dave, but not if the only reason for your return is to rake over old coals, so please knock that on the head. Any further references to what's happened in the past will be removed without further warning.

If you're to post here, it MUST be for positive reasons only, and to talk about hi-fi and music.

Thanks Ali, bit weird to be back TBH. I can almost hear the frenetic 'tippety-tapping' of keyboards elsewhere as speculation about my return abounds. They'll be very wrong as usual...
