For that price I'd splash out a bit more (less than £100, I think) and get a brand new Super Gold. Or do what I did: get a used C4E off ebay for half the price (or less) and send it to John Wright...
Quad 22s go for half that, and TBH, unless you're using for 78rpm record eq they aren't much use without a lot of work.
Well done, and good price. The Tandbergs don't seem to get the respect they deserve, and that one is a cracker.
It may just require a bit of patience. Nigel has redone boards from time to time, and probably will again.
I had a pair of SS3300s. Big suckers, bigger than my Ardens at the time. Cabinets were 1" thick and well braced. Conventional 3-way layout (bass, mid tweeter in-line top to bottom) with tri-amp...
I had a couple of good ones this year. An SME V and ESL63s stand out though, but if I must choose only one, it'd be the ESLs.
I should add that the PS audio supplies aren't as flexible as the Loricraft, which allows speed adjustments at the PS, rather than on the deck, if I'm not mistaken. The Lenco DIY one on Lenco Heaven...
Can't say I registered a significant sonic improvement, but the motor runs a bit cooler (my wall mains chuck 250V at my gear on a regular basis), and yes, I'm happy with it.
My 401 is plugged into a PS audio P600 set to 220V.
That's what I said.
It was always my understanding the the fluid did the work. The brush is just to make sure it gets into the grooves.
Bump. I'm looking into shipping, but I don't expect it to be cheap.
Is the natural fiber brush only for dry dusting? I have the nylon one for my PRC4, but always wonder if there's something better - I suppose not, since all the brush does is ensure the fluid gets in...
Have a look at the bidding. It's actually only two. Part of me wishes I knew who they were. I bought my 88 as a keeper, but prices like that are tempting. Don't like selling on EBay though.
I thought about getting Steve to turn a new cw for me, but the SPU now sits on an FR64S, so I'm good. :)
I wish I had the heavier counterweight for mine. I can't balance an SPU with my 3012.
It's a Series 2. Looks like a later model without the split counterweight.
Bump
Bumpy thing again.
I'm willing to explore shipping options for anyone who expresses serious interest. If I can sort out the issues with my effing car, other options may open up.
This is near what my own aspirations are for the '63s. I find the bass of my Quads adequate for the listening levels I have, though I'd like to apply a bit more, I live in a block of flats, and would...
Yup.
Yeah. I may have to look in to a way to ship them.
Any interest out there if I can ship?
Well, I guess those who like tape have what they want. Bump anyway.
The hi-fi part of the company is not very big, I think. They do produce a lot of TT accessories (hence the name, I suppose), as well as some pretty heavy-duty TTs, but the main business is producing...
