Hi Malcolm,
The key is to make sure the load is in the operating window of the Sorbothane you've specified. If not, just add / remove pads until you're in the window. In the technical guidelines...
Hi Malcolm,
Really interesting topic! We've been playing with this a lot recently.
Townend do a really good video on speaker isolation:

We love...
My understanding was in the main; manufacturer 50% ex VAT, dealer 50% ex VAT, then obviously 20% VAT to HMRC.
But not sure how it works when you get a distributor in the mix as well.
Good point Mark, Absolute Sounds just distribute through the UK. I could see why you might use them if you are a non-UK based company, but seems a bit surprising for UK based firms.
It doesn't...
Thanks Martin. I should have mentioned for anyone reading who didn't know; that dCS are a UK company based in Cambridge, so It wouldn't be particularly hard to self distribute (at least in the UK),...
I just saw on HiFi Pig that dCS have handed sole distribution to Absolute Sounds. So If you were to buy their kit (£££££££) in the UK, your're paying the dealer, the distributor, the manufacturer,...
Hi Everyone,
In collaboration with Steve and Sarah at HiFi Hangar, we're putting on a (very friendly) sound clash next Sat (23rd July).
It'll be at the fantastic HiFi Hangar shop in Bordon,...
Just had a look at your website Paul, some very nice drive units in your speaker designs, and good to see a slightly different take on a two way passive.
My 5 pence worth is that there are...
Emotiva is a really good shout. That's probably the most successful manufacturer direct (audio) company I can think off (for 'proper Hifi'), and some of their kit is pretty expensive. To my...
Thanks chaps, that's some really useful feedback, and any more very much welcome!
We're contemplating a hybrid solution, that may provide the best of both worlds:
We'd like to have one (small)...
Hi All,
I'm hoping you get your thoughts / expertise on an area that seems to be becoming increasingly relevant in Hifi:
That's whether to buy your Hifi kit through a dealer (the traditional...
Hi Shaun,
We've yet to hook them up to valves, but agree, that should be a winning combination! They've just got a really natural, unforced sound to them. We're working hard to have these...
Hah! Dom / Don / Ali, we'll get there in the end. Too young to get the reference ;)
Hi Rob,
Yeah, of course, Bracknell is not far at all. I should have pre-production units ready for listening in 2-3 weeks and I'll give you a shout.
Ceri
Hi Dom,
That's a really nice set-up, I bet it sounds good! I'm a big fan of moving lots of air gently to get good bass and you can't argue with 2 x 15" drivers per side. Then you get one driver...
Hi Andrew,
I've just joined AOS myself, through my company banner 'CODE Acoustics', but first and foremost I'm just a music enthusiast and hi-fi tinkerer. That's a really interesting introduction....
Ah, great stuff. They really are good bits of kit. Particularly for OB use. I made a pair of OB bass speakers using 2x15" drivers per side a few years ago and was blown away, given the system's...
Hi Rob,
Thanks! I just saw from you're location that you must be pretty close. If you fancy I'll give you a shout when we get our first production batch in. You would be more than welcome to come...
Hi Don,
Thanks for the heads up! Now corrected. I should change this post name to 'AoS members help me with my spelling!'.
Ceri
Hi Justin,
Thank you very much! Spelling has never been my strong point, I must share that trait with a lot of engineers.
Website corrected.
Cheers,
Ceri
Hi Geoff,
Those 'little drivers' are the Tang Band W3-1873's. Lovely drivers with a huge neo motor for a 3". They'll become our 'premium' option within our 'CUBE' cabinet alongside our 'standard'...
Hello,
A very warm welcome from Code Acoustics.
We're a start-up UK based firm selling high end DSP active speakers for sensible money. We sell directly through our website and keep our...
Thank you Tarzan, that's very kind.
Hi Geoff, thanks for the message. Marco has kindly opened a trade account for me and I'll be updating it over the weekend.
Cheers,
Ceri
