Bank holiday bounce...
Please note, Groovemaster tonearm no longer available.
Decided to re-post this.
Still available. It has remained safely packed away in storage so no change to description above.
Feel free to ask any questions. Thank you.
hmmm... seems like zero interest here.
kind of surprised but, yeah, ok.
weekend bump
Well, here's something rather special, just in time for Christmas...
This is the Schopper'd Thorens TD-124 mkII that belonged to the late CliveG, who was well known here on AoS.
It has been...
Lol well I was just following the AoS sticky about how to upload pics to this forum - still recommends Photobucket... maybe needs updating? thanks for the compliments btw!
Hmmm... maybe cos I'm on cheapo free account?
They spoiled my artistic efforts!
Thanks! Hey, what's with the Photobucket watermarks? They weren't there when I first uploaded those pics...?
Garrardy goodness. Audio Grail Sable Garrard 401. RC plinth. 12" Groovemaster II. Ortofon SPU. Puresound Tenuto Gunmetal Mat.
...
Thanks all for the input - I am going with the 9" Groovemaster II.
Thank you gents - that's very helpful indeed.
So: forget the 10" idea - go 9" (or 12" on an outrigger board, or large plinth.)
Hugo - good to hear that the 9" S-shaped GMII gets a thumbs-up...
Hi all - I'm soon to become the proud owner of a TD124, after several happy years with my 401.
I'm planning to mount an Audio Creative Groovemaster on a 9" armboard, cut for SME style mount. The...
Hey anyone know Charlie IRL? I have PM'd him but he's not been active on AoS since July... if anyone knows him maybe give him a nudge that he has a PM...?
If he still wants to sell the TT, of...
Any further news on this, Will? Might 2020 be the year??
Sounds nice, Will. Incidentally that would be my preferred look - love the style of the STA series.
Any thoughts about the form, Will? I imagine form will follow function to a degree, but I know the old TT100 looked very different to the Radford STA series - it's basically a big black metal box!
...
but I still totally do not grasp the maths of this - I just don't see how a 76kg man can exert a load of 3,800kg/m2... that's nearly 4 tons, isn't it?
how can a 76kg object exert more than a...
Yes that all makes sense Barry - the original question came more from a feeling of 'should I be concerned about this?' - then I got worried by Andy's calculation of 153kg/m2 being some sort of...
They look exactly the same as the joists in the 1st floor bedroom floors, so not loft joists I would think.
OK well I had a loose floorboard up to take a look underneath - the joists look pretty solid to me, they are 3x9 inches more or less I would say, and heavy timber. They run across the room at right...
eek don't scare me, I didn't think of that... will have to check if 2nd floor was converted from loft space
Macca I calc the weight per box as more like 15-22kg. 100 LPs at 150gm each... 100x150= 15,000gms or 15kgs.
150 LPs per box would be approx 22kgs.
haha good point Grant - when you put it that way... it's also not more than something like an upright piano which I wouldn't worry about putting in there, I suppose.
