Trudat. :)
I have to say Paul ( @reffc ) is usually right on the money, he has made some excellent observations and suggestions and I really respect his experience... But I cannot let the recommendation of...
Glue it on again, surely 'good' as new? If there is a problem later, any sort of claim or request to Usher for help, the tweeters are as standard again and look perfect.
I recently heard some...
+1. Best wishes to Mark, it's a truly horrible time.
There's quite a choice of suitable, decent speaker wires out there for fussy amplifiers, TQ, NVA, Exposure, Cable talk 3, Avondale Blacklink, Naim whatever, probably Mark Grant as well...
I think...
Some really nice speakers available by Royd at that price point, plenty of standmounters around. I'm afraid the days of Minstrels being about £100 seem to be gone, but they would have been my first...
NVA cable are very good, they are good value, and they don't usually break (only the SSP is fragile in this regard). Soundcords in particular are excellent sounding cables that cost peanuts.
Here...
That's absolutely astonishing work, Simon (in the same order as Marks Yamaha rebuild). I am most jealous of your abilities, I can only guess how it feels to have completed it.
I sincerely hope it...
Thanks for that - very useful!
It may all very likely sound the same, but there could be notional improvements using CAT7. Figlet has mentioned shielding, and Mark (ITEM) used to describe the terminations on CAT7 as being higher...
My Royds have two sets of terminals. I was going to get some 'decent' links sorted out, until I took the back panel (with the banana sockets) off.
I realised that I could simply remove the solder...
I'm using an Atom at the moment, it's a fine little thing that does very, very well given it's tiny size. Having said that, I prefer other, bigger amps which you can get for less second hand (partly...
Thanks for sharing Gaz - that's a serious installation, and a serious post to go with it! Well done!
Sold, with thanks! :)
Due to a new power amp that prefers an active pre, for sale is my Lightspeed mk2 LDR passive attenuator, as supplied by George Stantscheff direct from Australia. This is a single input / single...
Great little USB DAC at a super price - I love mine.
About time!! :D
Hi Jon
I just found your PM from WigWam, but I thought I'd join your discussion here.
I had the DS Pro Progeny and the DS Pro Basic 3 at the same time, and now I have a Young with a better PS....
Yes - similar plugs again, too!
Looks like £24 versus £42 for the Dark Angel then, though the DA has 'better' plugs.
Whether they are audible to the point of being worth extra is another matter, although I have had one of the...
Someone else posted the following this week - must have had a similar experience!
Can't say I think it'd be a good idea myself, but the idea is funny!
Edit - I see that the idea was in more...
Hi R100
There are a lot of really good sounding amps out there, NVA is really good, but not wholly unique. You can try Farlowe era Exposure, or several of the old British manufacturers if you...
Pretty sure they are from Goodmans Goodwoods or the 2 way Mezzo, going by the cutout on the side of the bass driver.
...
Rob,
So, you enjoyed Star Trek then?
;)
