Brilliant video!
Hey Paul, so how has you're "time to go play" been going?
Awesome!! Raw is a good way to describe even modern genelecs!
Or should you mean, Cd:s sounded raw, because Micromega Drive 1 => RME soundcard => Cyrus Pre

I thought they sounded awful sibilant and shouty compared to elacs normal, delicate speakers.
Wow!! How rare!!!!! I bet even Genelec have forgotten they ever made them!!
Anyone got a Gator board lying around? Fancy trying one in my Caiman.
Ta!
The preamp is brilliant!
This looks great. Even though I use my Quad CDP2 as my dac - I've still got my 7520 and my Caiman 1 sitting on my shelf, can't bear to part with them - they really introcuced me to the idea that a...

Your talking £30 for a decent glass cable and a tenner for a plastic one?
Yes that £20 is very very very small difference compared to what many people on this forum spend on mains cables or...
Basically plastic has much higher transmission loss than glass.
Now whether that difference is noticeable on a 0.5m toslink cable is a whole nother matter, but as the cost differences between...
If your using the Caiman as a pre amp then there is plenty more good stuff to come on your hifi journey when you start trying out pre amps. The Caiman one is not bad at all - considering it comes...

Hi the PSU my dad built it's a simple dual mono regulated design giving 18v using LM317. Seems to do the job very nicely and was very cheap to build.
Here's a bigger pic of that....

Hey peeps.
This is a bit late as I have had it for a few months, but I felt like I needed to try out a new Pre (was previously using a diy totally passive pre, and my Beresford Caiman built in...
Wow that's a cool vid - it would have been good if he could have come round the front and taken a bit of my fringe and trimmed my eyebrows - that really would have amazed me.
I guess the way that...
I am a big fan of Cambridge Audio. I'd recommend to anyone. Such good value build quality and materials used e.g the remote puts many £1-2k CDP remotes to shame.
My uncle gave me a 640C V2 a few...
