I can't remember, but Friday night football was introduced last season.
No worries... I know about Friday night football, but traditionally the opening games of the league season all kicked off on a Saturday afternoon, as they still do in Scotland.
Marco.
That'll do!
Looks like this season's going to be a thrill-a-minute under Lennon..... Brendan Rodgers, who?;)
Marco.
Just home so not seen the game, but another win for Celtic
Good game; worth the trip to New York  finished 6-1 Defoe with a hat trick, Alfredo got 2 although wasnt on long, and Ojo the 6th. Hibs are a good side and came back from dead late in first half scoring when it was 2-0, but should have been several... Thought Their keeper Marciano was different class and my Mom
Quality result, mate! Didn't see that coming against Hibs... Some other team, maybe. Backs up my feeling that Rangers will be very strong this season at Ibrox, and I suspect that will be the case for the game on the 1st Sept...;)
Marco.
Good result today, never easy after a European game
Utd doing well at home to Chelsea as well. Although less passes and possession are 4-0up. Rashford 2, Marital and new boy James.
I've been saying to anyone who will listen you can't stick a one season championship manager into an elite Premier league team and expect him to do the business. Regardless of his playing credentials.. I'm a Millwall fan and and I actually think Frank Lampard is a decent bloke but he's no prem manager (well not yet anyway)

Inclined to agree to an extent. He has plenty playing resources but was unable to buy. Possibly the reason he got the gig as top men would maybe not go. Especially as they lost Hazard.
But hopefully he will do well enough, although I've got reservations on the players mentality.
Think it will be an interesting season for Chelsea, but they still have some decent players, that young American they brought cost over 50 million.
Disappointing result last night for Celtic and Scottish football.
yup, think its the final plays offs they go into at this stage. still it gives another bite of cherry, albeit a smaller less sweet one. Rangers are hoping to join them on thursday night. We hold a 4-2 advantage so we have a good chance, being at home.
But, the need to guard against not giving their all for 90 mins. The Danes are not a bad side
Yup we don't want any Billy big baws out there. Hard graft is the only way
I find it more sad than anything else.
Scottish football is just so nowhere now, in terms of the standard of European club footie. Actually on an international level too !!!!
Hugely sad to see this descent to becoming 3rd rate no-hopers at every level.
Kilmarnock beaten by a team of part timers. Celtic losing 4 goals at home and going out.
It really is a true reflection of the level now.
Even my team St Johnstone, one of the greatest teams ever...... so bad.
I cringe now when I see them on telly, as I do with all footie I see from up there.
Honestly, when I see second tier football in England, it is way ahead of anything I see in Scotland.
I suppose Killie beaten by part timers from Wales is very telling in respect of current levels.
Just so sad, and i dont understand why. The clubs must be getting money for TV rights. Crowds at Celtic are still large.
It must just be that not enough kids are playing the game there now, and coming through. I dont know why.
Did I say... very sad !!
Celtic have been playing to a high standard but the team has kinda passed its sell by I think. It may take a bit of tin rattling to get it back; only time will tell.
Rangers have been gash for years, so its nice to see them playing so well now. Hoping they keep it up tbh.
Money wise, Celtic's wage bill is very high and was more than the whole Romanian premier league.... But the small teams, IE all bar the old firm struggle with poor crowds, poor sponsorship and very little tv money, yet the players still want decent money.
Size of the population watching footie isnt enough to support all these pro teams now. simple maths
I think that is the problem. Celtic are playing to a higher standard than any other team in Scotland, which is why they win almost always.
But when playing against teams outside Scotland, their real standard is shown to be rather lacking in quality. Best of a bad bunch does not equal high standard.
Or look at Killie. Did very well in Scotland last year. Europe watch out !!!!
First challenge........ Knocked out by part timers from Wales, in Europe
It’s like anything else, if you play with or against inferior folks, you descend to/ are pulled down to their level.
To get better at anything you have to be challenged/ dragged up by that challenge.
It isnt Celtics fault. They beat whatever is in front of them domestically, but that doesn’t prepare them for out in the big bad world. Sadly.
I see we are loaning in Andy King from Leicester City. Quite a good player and scores goals from midfield.
Interesting that Brendan Rodgers is allowing it.
Maybe a dud now?
Thought it might have been Wilfred Boney lol
Interesting end to the European Supercup.
Don't get me wrong - Tammy Abraham's penalty kick was poor, but it's interesting that Adrian's feet were both clear and forward of the line when the ball was struck.
Which means that VAR should have called it correctly, and the kick be retaken.
UEFA are a bent organisation!
Strong. Maybe inconsistent.
You wonder why UEFA get booed every Champions League game in Bradford, Manchester?
UEFA are a bent organisation, and they look benevolently on their darlings.
Inconsistency and UEFA are bed mates.
2-0 at half time, hopefully looking safe now
Good result and display tonight, looking forward to 5he next round
yup, 7-3 over 2 legs; sure everyone would have grabbed that v a pretty decent side. Next test will be again tougher, but with hard work and a modicum of good fortune its doable.
East Fife on Sunday.. That will be a culture shock for a few :D
(look away if your waiting for MOTD!)

Very happy with the Canaries first home result today, given Newcastle's new £40m Brazilian signing Joelinton is probably worth more than our entire squad... Although I suspect with his hat-trick today Teemu Pukki will see his value increase! 4 goals in 2 PL games - not bad for a free transfer! But from the reports it was as last year, a great team effort not just one superstar performance. These are the games we need to win to stay up. Roll on Chelsea next week!
Good win Alex. Canaries started well considering. Villa who did polar opposite and spent heavily lost again.
Also see Marco's team beat dunfermline after extra time.
My team play tomorrow.
we slid into the Quarters with a pretty much new team, winning 3-0.... tricky tie but a decent result
Yeah good win, but terrible game to watch, lots of wind and plastic pitch, Livingstone up next in that cup
Good solid first half in Poland, hoping for good results for both Scottish teams tonight
Had to go to bed alas as I've hurt hip but trying to follow on text updates.
Seems as expected, a close game.
Very tight game so far Grant, with Rangers having most of the procession
Seens pretty end to end.
So 0-0it ends. All to play for with both sides next week
In a way its better thus way. If we are not good enough to beat them at Ibrox we shouldn't be in the groups
Hard luck guys! Still, 0-0 away from home isn't too shabby a result in Europe, especially as you're so strong now at Ibrox, where I'd expect you to go on and dispatch the Poles comfortably:)
We got a good result tonight at home against AIK. 2-0, so no away goals to worry about this time!
In that respect, I'd argue that even a 1-0 win at home (and clean sheet), from a first leg tie, is better than a 1-1 draw away, simply because in these games so much hinges on away goals potentially counting as double, and being caught by a sucker punch at home, as Celtic found greatly to their cost against Cluj!!
Lots more on that tomorrow, and plenty of other things that have happened recently and been commented on, as for various reasons I haven't posted on this thread for a while - so stay tuned!;)
