Ok today's lunch chez-moi, al fresco, in sunny Wrexham... Starter was as follows (self-explanatory due to picture of packaging below):

These fish cakes from Aldi are highly recommended, and are among the best shop-bought ones I've tasted! However, what really made the dish was Del's partnering homemade salsa, which consisted of red onion, fresh garlic, chilli, fresh tomatoes, red and green peppers, balsamic vinegar and paprika puree. Gorgeous, and there's one left over for tomorrow's lunch!:)
Since the BBQ had been lit, we also decided to cook a spatchcock'd free-range chicken for tomorrow night's tea, which had been marinated in various fresh herbs and spices, so this is it:

Should be good!
Today's meal was complimented by a rather nice bottle of Portuguese red wine, which I picked up from Aldi (only £7), but which was absolutely delicious and complemented the steak beautifully:

Various roasted vegetables (potatoes, carrots, butternut squash, shallots, green beams, tossed together with fresh rosemary, garlic and olive oil), which Del enjoyed and also accompanied my steak:

And the steak itself, 28-day aged prime ribeye, from Aldi [they sell some very good quality meat], cooked to perfection on our charcoal BBQ. Fresh rosemary and garlic, finely chopped with some extra-virgin olive oil and loads black pepper, was rubbed into the meat before being grilled:

Served with some onion rings, fresh spinach, and button mushrooms with Del's own 'house sauce', consisting of fresh garlic, brandy, chicken stock, cream and parsley.
All fresh herbs were from our garden. The whole meal was superb, and had while chilling out together in the beautiful sunshine, enjoying each other's company, as seemingly not many married couples do these days! Doesn't get much better than that
Marco.
