Lol - that's a bit like saying 'I was shot, but not too badly!':D Point is, reheats, IMO, are totally unacceptable in any chippy that purports to be good, or cares about its reputation!

Looks pretty decent, Robin. Is it actually owned by Italians or just kid on Italian to sound good?:)

This is where I had my best fish supper ever (other than the stuff my dad used to serve in his chip shops when I was a kid):

Far better than the famous award-winning one, which is always rammed with tourists!;)

to be honest not sure, they took over the place just before the first lockdown. Many years ago it was run by an Italian called Marco , who later married a girl who was in my class at school, but its had a couple of owners since then.
THere are plenty of others around some of which are run by Italians but they are not as good, much the same as some of the local cafes.
Not guilty, lol:D
It doesn't need to be Italian to be any good, with cafes or chippies. It's all down to how much the owner cares about the quality of product they're serving to their customers, and how much having a good rep means to them.
My dad was 'old school', and a total perfectionist. He got his fish fresh every day, from the market in Glasgow, and everything was cooked fresh while you waited. He even closed on a Monday because there was no fresh fish over the weekend, as the fishermen didn't go out, so didn't want to serve his customers frozen fish. And NOTHING was ever reheated!
He made his own batter, from an old family recipe, which was superb, and even after the machine had cut the chips, his assistant and him (a family friend) used to go through them all by hand and cut out any with 'eyes' or that didn't look anything less than perfect. He even made his own vinegar, which was delicious and unique!
That, and because he was friendly and liked a bit of banter with his customers, was the reason why there were queues going round the block every Friday and Saturday night, and people would travel for miles to go to his shop - even football supporters buses would take a detour to go there, taking fans home after the game - all because he CARED about giving his customers the best.
I wonder how many chip shops these days could say the same? It's probably partly where I get my perfectionist attitude towards food from!;)

Some boiled pots I cut in half and air fried with a bit of beer battered cod. Bit of ketchup too.
