OK, What's For Lunch or Tea Today?

Grant got me started with this when I seen the wonderful loaves, he's posted on this thread. I forked out a whole £45.00 delivered for a used once only bread maker on that auction site...bought the ingredients and this is the result from its first run out...and I think it looks pretty good...it's still cooling, and I'll update this with another pic, when I cut into it....

You could build a house with those. Might go a bit funny in the rain though. :)

thanks Grant..I'll play with the machine over the coming weeks...I just used a recipe straight out the user guide as a first attempt..it tastes wonderful...it's a french bread recipe...crusty with a soft white well cooked dough...I'm surprised at how good it is....wish I'd done this a long long time ago....

Certainly beat shop bought, and the aromas are worth the price alone

Yip...the taste and smell are exceptional compared to store bought..I nearly bought a machine with 2 paddles...to make the loaf long as opposed to high, if you get my drift, which would have made the loaf look more like a traditional farmhouse loaf, but I don't knead it to look good...just to taste good...

Doesn't keep long but it doesn't usually have to. Lol

When you say "shop bought" though, I presume you mean supermarket bought cheap crap? As there are plenty of artisan bakeries, etc, around, operating in "shops", which sell outstanding bread!;)

Also most supermarkets do too, if you go to the 'posh' part of their bread section...... Sainsbury's, Waitrose and M&S are particularly good for that. However, there's nothing to beat your own!:cool:

As we’re on a bread run...
Ran out of bread yesterday so I knocked up a white loaf. Not everything has to be a 48 hour sourdough extravaganza [emoji4]. This is a simple white loaf I made yesterday afternoon, baked in a Dutch oven, 230c with lid on for 15 minutes, 190c with lid off for 20 minutes. Made great tozza this morning
