If you put it on straight away it will burn, but yes, after a few mins of flipping, when the bread starts to toast and brown, put a thin layer on mayo on, flip it, apply mayo on the other side, then flip again. It will go a lovely golden brown. It’ll be too rich if you slather mayo on, so go easy. :P
Nice to see a Lasagne outside of Italy not oozing with shit loads of béchamel between the pasta layers, Having said that my local Italian and the Fresh deli counter at my local Waitrose are exceptionally close to most Lasagne that I have eaten in Italy, one of the best being a dish made with Carne Di Cervo in San Gimignano, interesting change from Beef/Pork.
Do I percieved a wee spud shortcut on that tray bake ;)
