OK, What's For Lunch or Tea Today?

Well, tonight’s dinner was Lamb & Haggis Toast with Chorizo Mayonnaise, Chartreuse Whipped Cheese and Mint Jelly, followed by Loin of Cotswold Venison with Baharat Spiced Cauliflower, Moroccan Aubergine and Dukkah Crumble Ragu and with Chocolate and Ale Cake with Salted Caramel and Muscovado Ice Cream for dessert.

I would love to claim this all for myself but the fact is, after trying for four years, we finally manage to book another table at The Hand and Flowers in Marlow - Tom Kerridge’s Michelin starred pub.

It was truly stunning; the venison in particular was one of the most amazing things I have ever eaten!

Lots of nice food on here lately! :)

Sounds fantastic, Adam. I rate Tom highly as a chef, and I like his personality. May I ask what you were charged for the meal (or some of the dishes), just for reference?:)

There are a couple of Michelin starred restaurants up here, and you're looking at around £25 for starters, and £40 or so for main courses.

I had some buttered Polish sunflower seed bread thickly spread with St Agur blue cheese, followed with a bowl of strawberries for lunch. Very simple, but it was really delicious!

had chicken to use, so just bashed that together with a packet of rice... couldnt be fussed spending time on it

The starters were £15-£18 each and the mains £30-£35. For six of us including wine and a round of posh gins beforehand, the bill was almost exactly£600.

We went with two other couples and when we all hit our 40ths a few years ago, we went for a posh meal on the occasion of each,and three of these were Michelin starred establishments. One was the Hand and Flowers and, not only was it the cheapest of them all, but it was the only place that we all vowed we would absolutely have to go back to!

As I said, it took us 4 years to succeed but we will be going back again - I can’t recommend it highly enough.
