Steak night tonight. Ribeye for me and the daughter, medium rare, and a rare fillet (not blue) for the Mrs.
Simple sauce done as follows:
* Fry mushrooms in a little bit of oil, and a pinch of salt, until they start to sweat down properly and shrink.
* Add in a huge knob of butter and minced garlic, turn the heat down.
* Let the mix simmer away for a couple of minutes.
* Stir in loads of finely chopped flat leaf parsley and cook for another minute.
* Spoon over your well-rested steak
* Om nom nom
Oven baked cod steaks (M&S laughingly call then "Cod Loins". I didn't know fish had loins.) with a tomatoe, onion, garlic and ginger sauce. Boiled potatoes, peas, sweetcorn, red peppers and asparagus on the side.
An orange for dessert.
(No wine, just water to drink.)
Sounds nice, Neil. Have you ever tried making up blocks of herby butter in advance, which you can freeze, like ice-cubes, and then simply melt over steaks after they've been cooked?:)
I've mentioned this before, but my favourite is Café de Paris: https://www.foodrepublic.com/recipes...butter-recipe/
Simply gorgeous!:cool:
