After a vote from grand kids, looks like it's bangers, nuggets, chips 'n beans. Possibly with a fried egg on top!
Tonight its beef, arran mustard dumplings and veg in Drambuie sauce with herb and butter baby potatoes washed down with Cox's apple presse.
Yum-yum, I'd like to see a picture of that :)

Pork chops, chips, onion rings & beans.
Chicken casserole, with mushrooms and red peppers. Boiled potatos, carrots, leeks, french beans and brocolli on the side. A glass or two of 2014 Chateau Milon, Saint-Émilion, Cuvée Diony.
A couple of nectarines for dessert.
Big baked spud, with loads of cheese, baked beans and fried mushrooms. It was lovely!
Anything that takes my fancy.
I had some picked gherkins today and I chopped a couple up to add to the large pizzas I buy from the Sainsburys deli counter.
Only just had my supper, was out most of the day helping an elderly neighbour. The Police were, according to him, supposed to be going round to him to check his driving license and insurance as they alleged that he/ his car was involved in a hit and run. He had no knowledge of any accident on the day mentioned, and no damage to his car.
I was suspicious, so I made a point of being present. Sure enough the Policeman looked at my neighbours driving license/ insurance, but then said that he wanted to take a statement and that I should go out of the room. My neighbour said that he would like me present. The Policeman said I could only do that if I gave my name and address. I said that that I did not want to, and the Policeman said that I had to. My reply was that I only have to give my name if I am suspected of a crime or am under strong suspicion of having committed a crime.
The Policeman did not like that, and said that he would have to check with the station. I said that he could do that by phone, he said no, he would do that in person at the station.
More cr**p went on and I put the Policeman right on several points of law that I just happened to know. It was quite funny really, he went back to the station to with a few queries about law, but no statement taken.
I'm a usually quiet and meek person, determined though, the Policeman must have though I was a retired Lawyer, or at least legally trained, my neighbour and his wife were very surprised and happy with the way I took charge, stopping the Policeman intimidating the Neighbour.
Supper, coming back home, I met another neighbour, a friend of the elderly one, they asked if I would like some curried chicken, I didn't refuse, had that with potatoes and courgette cooked with garlic, ginger and a little chilli, very nice. Cuppa following shortly.
Nice one, Alex. Don't take any shit and stand up for your rights! When the going gets tough, it's often the 'quiet ones' that get going ;)
I'm a quiet and meek person, too... :eyebrows:
Marco.
Early supper, or was it late lunch, fresh Haddock pan fried in extra virgin olive oil and butter, garlic, ginger, chilli, paprika and cherry tomatoes, served with mashed potatoes and green peas, was absolutely gorgeous. Should have taken a photo!
Tonight was breaded chicken escalopes with spaghetti and tomato (pasta) sauce :)
Marco.
like escalopes, although not ate them with spaghetti. must try it sometime.
just had baby potatoes and corned beef. Quite like that(plain but tasty
It's an Italian classic, mate. Both go really well together. Recipe here: https://foodfrankly.com/2013/03/19/c...etti-pomodoro/
Marco.
It's looking like pizza tonight, in fact it will be pizza tonight. Just yer basic cheese and tomato, no pineapple or anchovies or suchlike.
Pineapple, on a pizza, is an abomination - it should be banned! Anyway, enjoy :)
Marco.
wont need long Alex. 15 mins is plenty when it liquidized as long as the garlic is wafer thin to start with. I used to gently fry the garlic on a very low heat. cut it really seethrough thin then add it to the tos before giving it a qhick zap in the blender. improves flavour but you have to be careful not to burn it.
Heh-heh... It's the water content inside the 'offending toppings' seeping into the pizza, once they've been put on top, that's the problem, and the longer they're lying there, the worse things get!
The test is, when you hold a slice of pizza in your hand, the end should stay rigid, not flop, as is often the case with British or American-style pizzas, simply because there's too much cheese and other crap on them ;)
The base of any *proper* pizza should always remain firm and crispy!
Marco.
Pizza without mushrooms? That's unthinkable!
All this talk of pasta it had to be

Not for me, although you do get ones with porcini mushrooms on them in Italy.
But that's the problem when things become bastardised beyond recognition, like pizza has become today, which let's not forget originated in ITALY. What's forgotten in the quest for turning pizza into a heavy, stodgy overelaborated mess, is that the star of the show is always THE BASE, and the toppings of secondary importance.
It's mostly the other way round these days, until that is, anyone visits Italy and gets a (pleasant) surprise at what REAL PIZZA looks and tastes like!! ;)
Now don't get me started on lasagne!!
Marco.
Looks pretty good, Roy. Perhaps, for me, just a little too much sauce and parmesan cheese. I'm sure it tasted nice, though! :)
At the end of the day, cooking is all about making what YOU like to eat, but in Britain, especially in the majority of Italian restaurants, the tendency is to overcomplicate/overelaborate Italian food, which when done right, majors on simplicity [the 'less is more' concept].
The key is always in the quality of the ingredients used and their freshness, not on how many you can use and bung on a plate ;)
Marco.
Bit late, but I'm only feeding me today and just want someting quick, so it's fishcakes, chips and beans.
Curried chicken, plain rice and green peas.
From the Chinese - chicken curry, egg fried rice, chow mein & chips (I was quite hungry)
